Breaking the Cycle

Breaking the Cycle is a State-Licensed Women’s Residential Recovery Treatment Facility. We opened in 2020 as a sober house for women, and have since taken our program to the next level providing onsite clinicians, medical direction, 24-hour staffing and the ability to bill insurance, including Mainecare.

Breaking the Cycle is led by women in recovery who have the drive and desire to pass on what has been so freely given to us through 12-Step Programs and a strong sober community. We see the gaps in the healthcare system specifically relating to recovery-based services and we aim to build a bridge between the different stages of recovering from substance use disorder, doing our part to help build a true continuum of care that stretches from detox to treatment facility to recovery housing and into independent living.

Breaking the Cycle takes a very family-oriented and person-centered approach. We believe in providing a safe sober space where we can assist the resident in addressing all of their specific needs, from medical, dental and medication management, to housing and legal issues. We focus heavily on family reunification, and we have created an environment where children are welcome for both day and overnight visits. We are very excited to be able to provide an innovative, meaningful, and growing level of care and support, and we are always looking for residents and friends who share our passion for this work.
